Wailuku First Friday returns with a “Hoppin’” evening on Market Street on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This free, family-friendly community event features Maui-made shopping, ‘ono eats, and live local entertainment in the heart of Wailuku Town.
Market Street Stage Entertainment
  • 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. – Hālau Ke‘ala Kahinano O Puna (Kumu Joy Salvador)
  • 7:15 – 7:45 p.m. – Maui Onstage preview: The Most Epic Birthday Party EVER
  • 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. – Kalani Pe‘a
Four-time GRAMMY® Award-winning Hawaiian music artist Kalani Pe‘a celebrates a decade of recording Hawaiian, contemporary, and soul music. Known for his deep connection to his ‘ohana (family), kaiāulu (community), and lāhui (nation), Pe‘a brings a powerful and meaningful performance to Wailuku.

Art & Culture HighlightsSabado Art Gallery (38 N. Market St.) presents a group exhibition titled “Let Me Tell You a Story,” featuring students of Philip Sabado:
Tioni Acain, Matt Agcolicol, Brissa Christophersen, Jackie Sabado-Eitel, Kuakea Yasak, Alexcia Guerrero, Bailey Onaga, and Brandy Takiguchi. Exhibit runs through April 17.
MAPA’s Naylor Theatre Grand OpeningMAPA’s Naylor Theatre, located in the former National Dollar Store building on Main Street, is now open. The public is invited to:
  • Take guided tours every 10 minutes from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
  • Enjoy complimentary treats in the lobby
  • Get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of rehearsals for the Broadway musical Frozen
Wailuku GarageRelax with DJ Z spinning your favorite hits while you explore local vendors at the Wailuku Garage. Support local—shop, eat, and think local!
Parking & Road Closures
  • Free parking available after 6:00 p.m. at the Wailuku Municipal Parking Garage (access via Church Street between Vineyard and Main)
  • Market Street closes to vehicle traffic at 5:30 p.m.
  • Vehicles remaining on Market Street after closure will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense

Wailuku First Friday returns with a vibrant “Spring Fling” celebration, bringing the community together for an evening of Maui-made shopping, ‘ono eats, and live local entertainment in the heart of Wailuku Town.

Namaka Pauole is the 2025 Carmen Hulu Lindsey Leo Ha‘iha‘i Falsetto Champion. Originally scheduled to perform last month, her appearance was postponed due to weather. We’re excited to welcome her to the stage at our upcoming Spring Fling event.

Joshua Kahula is celebrating the release of his highly anticipated debut solo album with a special live performance you won’t want to miss. Best known as the lead singer of Nuff Sedd Music, Kahula is an Emmy Award winner and multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award recipient, recognized for his work on “E Ola Maui,” a powerful single created to uplift the Lahaina community following the devastating fires. A proud Lahaina resident, Joshua continues to use his musical talents and platform to support and inspire his community. Free parking is available after 6:00 p.m. in the Wailuku Municipal Parking Garage, accessible via Church Street between Vineyard and Main. Market Street will close to vehicle traffic at 5:30 p.m. Vehicles left on Market Street after that time will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

Breakdancing Uptown Getdown returns to Wailuku First Friday
WAILUKU, MAUI – Get ready for the return of Wailuku First Friday’s hottest event, Uptown Getdown 11, happening Friday, August 1, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This free, family-friendly street festival delivers an exciting blend of music, culture, food, and community—perfect for both locals and visitors.
Market Street will transform into a high-energy dance arena for the 11th Annual Uptown Getdown breakdancing competition. DJ Joralien will be spinning the beats, while Bboy Karma brings the hype as event emcee. Don’t miss Maui’s best 1v1 bboy battles, capped off with a special exhibition match: 808 Breakers vs. Oʻahu All Stars—kicking off at 6:00 p.m.
“The last Uptown Getdown was held in August of 2018 and we’re excited to bring this event back to Wailuku First Friday!” shared Daryl Fujiwara, event coordinator. “Alex Hutaff-Bautista is a seasoned vet and has worked many years to keep breakdancing alive on Maui and across Hawai‘i. I want to thank him for his passion and expertise.”
Merchant Spotlight: Mystery Maui Escape Room presents the Sketchy Booth, a live portrait photo booth experience. For a small fee, town partygoers can walk away with a hand-drawn keepsake instead of a printed photo. Find them behind 81 N. Market Street.
